Mail and Telephone Order transactions occur in an environment where the cardholder is not present to sign a voucher for the goods or services provided. It is your responsibility to ensure that the person placing an order is the authorised owner of the plastic card. In the event of a dispute the onus is on the Merchant to prove the goods and services were provided to the rightful owner of the card. Proving this in many cases may not be possible and can result in the full value of the transaction being debited to your account, plus any dispute fee. Obtaining an authorisation does not confirm that the rightful owner of the card has performed the transaction. |
